Following Jesus
Your heart is prone to run from God and rebel against Him. Have you ever lied, stolen, used God’s name in vain, lusted, or hated? If so, according to God’s Law, the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20), God will see and judge you as a liar, thief, blasphemer, adulterer-at-heart (Matt. 5:28), and murderer-at-heart (Matt. 5:22).
The Bible says that no one is good..not even one of us (Romans 3:10-12)
God’s Word tells us that we “… all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
Because of sin we deserve death and this death is eternal separation from God in hell…. (Rev. 21:8).
But God wants to give us life. Romans 6:23 tells us that “… the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord”
Yet, God loves you and wants to save you from sin and its results. He wants to offer you a new life. In fact Jesus said “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10).
To give you this gift of salvation, God made a way through His son Jesus. In
Romans 5:8 it says: “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
There is nothing you can do to pay for this gift. You receive it by faith alone.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Faith is when you trust God. It is a decision of your heart demonstrated by the actions of your life. It is written in Romans 10:9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation”.
This gift was given out of love for you! The Bible yells us in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” What a great love God has for us!
The only way to the life God desires to give you, is through His son Jesus Christ!
Jesus tells us in John 14:6 “…”I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Does all of this sound good to you? If so, then choose Jesus! If you desire to choose Jesus, the Bible tells us to repent of our sins (turn away from them and the lifestyle), confess Christ as Lord and believe that He is risen.
“That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation”.(Romans 10:9-10)
Are you ready to follow Jesus? Are you tired of living apart from God? Then accept Christ now.
How do we do this… prayer. This is just talking to God.
Dear God,
I know that I am a sinner. I know I need your forgiveness. I believe Jesus died to forgive my sins. I repent of my sin and ask you to be my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me of all my sin. Thank you for the new life you have given me. From this day forward, I choose to follow you. In Jesus name, Amen!
